SET® Mania App Reviews

Pay and pay some more

Good game. Exactly what I wanted, but youre extra uncool to offer IAP in an app I paid for.

Love the game

I was introduced to the game at mathematics conference and have been addicted ever since. The only thing only thing I dont like is that I have to pay to the extra games. I dont think that its right. Other wise great game.

Good game, poor options

In app purchases on an app I paid for is not cool. I honestly would have paid the additional in app purchase charge up front but now I just feel like Im getting swindled with the after-the-fact nickel and dime-ing. Also, no family sharing is not cool. I shouldnt have to pay for the app again because my wife wants it on her phone. I love the game but the bad DRM and extra charges in the game leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Mediocre version

This is the third version of SET I paid for on iOS. The first version was pulled, but was better than this version. I can handle IAPs but 1) no portrait mode? 2) slow animations hinder gameplay. We should be able to turn them off SET is a simple game, this is too flashy. There should be a simple setting and then I would be happy.

Used to Love, But Update Is Evil Ripoff

Much like another reviewer said, its just not cool to suddenly make parts of the game inacessible to people who purchased an earlier version. And it wasnt a cheapie, either, if I recall. Its totally ridiculous that Im locked out of gameplay I used to be able to access because the update has suddenly deemed them in-app purchases. Developers need to figure out a way to grandfather in legacy users. This was one of my favorite games but Im very upset at how this update was handled. Will never buy another game from them.

You deserve a hug!

I love this game! But, after you finish a round it leaves you with either congratulations or words of encouragement. I often play the game to relax or to take my mind off of something stressful. Im not always the fastest. I hate seeing things like "passable" "dont give up" or "you deserve a hug" theyre pointless and usually tick me off.

Thieves

I bought this years ago, and now i have to do it again? And with in-app purchases? Shame on the gamemakers.

Terrible

2 bucks and not even a full game. No shaded cards?!?

best digital Set experience

I dont usually review apps, but for those who care: this is the best way to train up your Set speed, since the main metric is your average speed per set across each game. With speed as your goal, youll find yourself able to see Sets faster and faster, I think Ive personally halved my avg time to find each set, over my playing this app over the past few weeks.

If you like Set, get this app!

Set is a great game, and Im really happy that this app exists! Gameplay is generally smooth, and it brings home the joy of solitaire set. Here are some things they could improve: – Support for two players playing on the same device. Perhaps by including a "set" button – Support for two or more players over the Internet or Wi-Fi. – Improved stats. Four example, how many sets of three the same category to the same, one the same, or all different. This could thengo into a skill or difficulty rating. – A training module for extra difficult sets, or easy set swear you need to find them quickly. – Show how many cards or left the deck. – Possibly include a Set button even for solitaire. That way you would lose a point if you hit the button but dont have a set. – Even for solitaire scores, show how many sets were found as well as total points, not just average time per set

Dont waste your money.

I bought this app because I love the SET Game. It is a complete waste of money. Youre only paying for half of the app up front. Once you buy it, you only get 3 playing modes. You have to separately buy the other 3 modes. Why not just raise the price of the app and make it like the rest of the paid apps?! The ad that pops up constantly is annoying too. So again I say, dont waste your money.

No multiplayer

The iPad app has multiplayer but iPhone doesnt absolute waste of money

Love it

Keeps my brain from melting! Always a challenge.

Great game, but...

Fun and challenging game. However, the graphics in the app are worse than horrible. Ive played this game on the NY Times website, and the graphics are clean and classy, very much in keeping with the elegant simplicity of SET. In contrast, the app has a distracting tacky background, heinous cartoon characters and nauseating comments upon finishing a game. Oh well, its still a great game, but the app could be vastly better.

Boring

Not worthy to buy this game

Meh

Set is a great game, but the quality of this app is quite poor. A lack of customizable settings, regular touch response issues, and unintuitive user interface make this app lie far below what it could have been. If you really enjoy Set, youll probably get something out of this, but if youre coming to Set for the first time, dont let this be your first impression.

My Brain is a Machine

Set is a great game that really stretches your brain. Its a great way to pass the time at the doctors office or on the train. This app — while not sleek or modern in design — has the look and feel of playing with an actual deck of Set cards. I like that there are a few options for ways to play (Arcade and Marathon are my current favorites). I also like the feature that guarantees a Set.

Important note:

Note: it costs an additional 99¢ to get a game that matches the IRL version with actual cards. Just buy the "Marathon" in-app purchase and youll get all the shades, etc. (Click on "advanced"). Because its timed you could ostensibly play against someone else (who also had it on their phone). But please give us an opt-out switch for the timer!!! I hate it when Im playing alone.
